A Brut IPA without the artificial enzyme, and with a Saison influenced yeast strain. Expect intense hop aroma, alongside a pepper yeast note. Super dry, great beer. Brewed for GABS 2019.
Our modern take on the old school West Coast US IPA style. Bursting with a blend of fresh US and Australian hop flavours and aromas with a clean assertive bitterness like an IPA should, Left Coast keeps it real for the hop lovers out there. Enjoy while it lasts.

Severus is our take on an American Brown Ale. Big dark caramel malt flavour and aroma, strong bitterness and loads of citrus hop aroma. Strong, dark red and a little mysterious. Just like the late Alan Rickman’s famous character.
DATE FIRST TAPPED: 12TH MARCH 2019
A rich, malty German style lager. Perfect Autumn drinking and a great alternative to the hop driven styles. Bocks were traditionally given names ending in ‘..ator’ and we thought Rejuvenator was perfect for this new refreshing lager.
DATE FIRST TAPPED: 28TH DECEMBER 2018
German inspired unfiltered lager. Light bready malt, intriguing light lime hop aromas and flavours. Not too intense. Perfect summer drinking.
DATE FIRST TAPPED: 7th May 2018
Our GABS beer for 2018, Gin Street is a gin botanical spiced saison. Inspired by some of our favourite gins we added classic gin botanicals like Juniper, Cassia Bark, Cardamom and Coriander at different stages of the brewing process. Complex, herbal and aromatic, Gin Street is smooth and interesting. No need for tonic.
Date First Tapped: 10th May 2018
Newy Pale Ale is a celebration of this great city. Fresh, aromatic hop driven Pale Ale, brewed in the ‘HopBurst’ style with all hops added as late as possible in the brewing process. This maxes out the fruity hop flavour and aroma without maxing out the bitterness. Great Australian and German malts and our house British ale yeast blend ensures a great blend of full flavour and drinkability.
Renew with a Newy!
DATE FIRST TAPPED: 14th April 2018
Big Nobby Double IPA, named by our naming comp winner is a big brash new double IPA, triple hopped in honour of our 3rd Birthday.
Using a mix of whole cone fresh hop flowers and the freshest pellets we could source, the new brew is a showcase for hops grown in our three favourite hop growing regions – Australia, the US and New Zealand. 100 IBU of Vic Secret from Aus, Ekuanot from the US and Riwaka from NZ make up the triple decker hop onslaught.
Just enough malt to balance and an ABV of 8.7% to keep things interesting – a brew worthy of launching our 3rd birthday and a nod to all the great Pales and IPAs we’ve brewed since opening.
DATE FIRST TAPPED: 1st March 2018
The Citizen pours a deep amber with an effervescent tan head. Earthy aromas of spice and mandarin up front with lightly toasted caramel malts and a peppery, dry finish. Brewed with a blend of German, British, and Australian malts, NZ grown hops and a French Saison yeast, The Citizen’s heritage is complex and challenging – like all the best things in modern Australia.

Brewed as our contribution to the 2017 Great Australian Beer Spectapular (GABS) event, Dubbel Raisin Extra Stout is a real hybrid of beer styles. The dark malts and strong dark chocolate notes are identifiably stout like. The fruity notes from the blend of Belgian yeasts used contribute distinct Belgian ‘Dubbel -like’ flavours and aromas to take the beer in a different direction. And then, just to ramp up the fruit character there are the 2 separate raisin additions – one during the whirlpool immediately after the boil, and one at the end of fermentation directly into the fermenter. A rich, complex warming winter brew. Limited release.
Date First Tapped: 22 May 2017
The 2nd Collaboration Brew from FogHorn Brewhouse and Stomping Ground Brewing Co, Fog Stomp 2 is a Black Ale with plenty of hops, plenty of dark malt character and the creamy mouthfeel only brews with oats in the grain bill seem to have. As well as standard hop pellet additions, Fog Stomp 2 uses loads of the new hop product ‘Lupulin Powder’ to generate the strong citrus and pine notes that balance all that roasty black malt. Perfect drinking as we head into the cooler months.
Date First Tapped: 25 May 2017
Red Right Hand is an IPA with a difference. Luscious caramel malts balance the intense tropical fruit and bitter citrus hit of the US Mosaic and El Dorado hops. All the hop aroma, flavour and bitterness you’d expect from an IPA but with a fuller malt palate and beautiful dark reddy copper colour in the glass.
DATE FIRST TAPPED: 16TH June 2015
Sligo Extra Stout was awarded the Champion Stout at the 2015 Australian Craft Beer Industry Awards. It is a big, dark, roast beer as it should be – brewed in tribute to the Export Stouts of old but with a modern craft approach. Layers of dark chocolate and roast coffee character with a strong hop bite. Clean and drinkable for its size but a good winter warmer just the same. Named after the great west coast Irish County Sligo, Sligo Extra Stout is for the lovers of all things dark…

Fog Stomp is the first collaboration brew from Stomping Ground Brewery in Melbourne and FogHorn Brewhouse Newcastle. Stomping Ground is the new Brewpub from the team that runs the Great Australian Beer Spectacular (GABS) each year. They know good, innovative beer and brought that approach to the collaboration. A Belgian Blonde Ale in style, but brewed with the addition of 20% Rye Malt and using US grown Simcoe hops creates an intensely flavoured, spicy, peppery flavour hit. We also experimented with the new ‘Hop Hash’ product – the result is strong fruity bitter citrus hop aroma and flavour that doesn’t mask the distinctive spicy rye malt notes, or the classic Belgian yeast profile. A complex, full flavoured brew that brings the best from two of Australia’s best small breweries together for the first time.
Date First Tapped: 10 February 2017
Loverley Jubberley Nut Brown Ale is FogHorn’s tribute to classic British ales, brewed with quality British malts and inspired by Sam Webber, our recently returned British barman. Sam’s family runs Tucker’s Malts in the UK, a small high quality brewing malt producer and after almost a year of working with us here at FogHorn, Sam convinced us to give their malt a try. We brewed a British Nut Brown Ale, dark, malty but very drinkable. Strong British malt flavour and aroma with the added twist of all New World hop additions contributing their classic citrus and pine characters. All round we think it’s Loverley!
DATE FIRST TAPPED: 2nd February 2017
Dads with Prams is a hoppy Pale Ale with a difference. Brewed with the best malts and the intensely fruity NZ grown Riwaka hop, Dads with Prams packs plenty of flavour and aroma into a tiny ABV package. At 2.4% it is the lightest alcohol brew FogHorn has released – and one of the lightest Craft Beers in Australia. Light bodied, crisp and very drinkable but still with good aroma and flavour Dads with Prams is perfect for when you need all the flavour but less of the booze. Perfect warm weather drinking.
Malts: Gladfield Pale Malt (NZ), Weyermann Carapils (Germany), Weyermann Carahell (Germany), Baird’s Medium Crystal (UK)
Hops: Riwaka NZ
Date First Tapped: 20 January 2017
Red Corvette is a hybrid brew. We took the best bits of a British ESB and a New World IPA and crossed them to form a beautiful red/amber ale that has a great balance of malt and hop character. Red Corvette gets its colour from the use of German Caramalts and the best British Crystal malts. These also combine to provide the nutty caramel malt sweetness that makes this brew special. Hops are a blend of the best of the US and New Zealand and provide a unique aroma and flavour that blends well with the sweeter malt base. Balanced and classy – with a touch of red fire.
Date First Tapped: 11 January 2017
4 Saisons in One Day is our modern take on a traditional Saison style beer. 4 Saisons is brewed with a blend of the best barley malts, as well as a high percentage of malted and unmalted wheat. The real hero of the brew however is the French Saison yeast that contributes earthy, fruity esters and a cracking dry finish. The perfect beer for the hot Australian summer, this is the driest finishing beer we’ve ever released – light bodied, dry and refreshing. Lemon, citrus and almost black pepper notes from the blend of the yeast and the NZ Pacifica hops makes 4 Saisons in One Day perfect for pairing with oysters, squid and white fleshed fish – a better match than any dry white wine with seafood. Light bodied, dry and complex.

Time for something a little different… FogHorn’s first Pumpkin Ale will hit the taps in time for Thanksgiving in the States. Inspired by the US craft brews that appear around this time of year, FogHorn’s Pumpkin Ale is basically pumpkin pie in a glass. Finally you can tell your Mum you are getting your vegetables while drinking beer. Everyone’s a winner! Over 50kg of fresh Jap pumpkin, lovingly peeled, chopped and dry roasted by our Apprentice Chef Josh in our King St kitchen (he loves his job!), is then mashed while hot and added to the grain at the start of the brewday. The pumpkin adds colour, flavour and aroma to the brew but it also adds some fermentable sugars and body as well – it really is an integral part of the beer. Rounding out the flavours are the best British caramel malts and classic pumpkin pie spices – Cinnamon, Nutmeg and All Spice. It all comes together in a sweet and savoury beer that is unlike anything else on our beer list. Even if (like our brewer Shawn) you hate pumpkin give it a try – it’s beer and dessert all in one.

The Louisville Lip is a Pale Ale – but extra! Inspired by the popular FogHorn release ‘The Greatest…’ IPA, The Louisville Lip takes the same hopping and overall flavour and aroma balance and packs it into a more sessionable brew. The Louisville Lip packs a big flavour punch without quite as much alcohol to weigh you down. Strong beers are great in moderation but this is proof that big hop flavour and aroma can come without the high ABV. Loads of kiwi and US grown late hops, big tropical and citrus aroma and enough bitterness to keep you on your toes. Enjoy!
Date First Tapped: 8 September 2016
Brewed in the Belgian Dark Strong Ale (Quadrupel) style and using a Belgian yeast, FogHorn’s Monk Magic is something a little bit special. Inspired by the Abbey ales and Trappist Ales of Belgium, Monk Magic is a flavour experience like nothing else on our tap list. Fruity and cinnamon sweet up front, medium to full bodied, warm and spicy from the high ABV and a surprisingly dry finish. More drinkable than it should be. Not a big showy hop driven style, Monk Magic is a complex beer worthy of long contemplation. We think the Monks would approve.
Date First Tapped: 13 August 2016
Ménage… is our first Belgian inspired Tripel. Pale gold in colour, Ménage… has round mouth filling malt to begin, followed by marmalade yeast notes, light hopping and a dry finish. Warm and strong but not hot. Deceptively drinkable, Ménage… is our take on the classic Belgian style. Enjoy with consenting adults only….

Some ideas are bigger than others. FogHorn Brewhouse’s newest brew is a complex hybrid of styles, ingredients and flavours. The Big Ideas Beer is our first beer using rye as a key part of the grain bill, as well as the usual barley and wheat. Rye gives a characteristic peppery aroma and adds a noticeable unique malt sweetness to the brew. Distinctive, like all good ideas. We’ve paired it with rich red caramel malts and big hop flavour and aroma from US and Australian grown varieties. The result is a complex mix of rye malt flavour and aroma, caramel barley malt sweetness, and strong cleansing bitterness and flavour from the hops. A Big Idea.
DATE FIRST TAPPED: 16TH JUNE 2016
The Greatest is our newest India Pale Ale here at FogHorn. It is a little different to the others – light on its feet, cracking dry finish, just enough bitterness to pack a punch and waves of fruity hop aroma and flavour dominating all before it. Our small tribute to Ali. The Greatest.
DATE FIRST TAPPED: 20th May 2015

Luscious dark burnt caramel malt bordering on high cocoa dark chocolate. But this beer isn’t all about the malt. It has a bracing but not astringent bitterness, and against the choc background, cascades wave after wave of citrus and passionfruit US and Kiwi hop aroma. An IPA. But Black.
Date First Tapped: 14th May 2015
Rich caramel malt, assertive bitterness to cleanse the palate and fresh US and Aus flavour and aroma hops to take the style in a new direction. The best of British malts and yeast meet the best New World hops. English bitter the way it is meant to be, straight from the tank.
Date First Tapped: 17 March 2016
One of our favourite styles. the Dubliner is true to its Irish roots, Dry and easy to drink but with big roast, almost burnt coffee flavour and aroma. Bitter but smooth. Served on our traditional Hand Pump instead of more modern versions ‘cheating’ by using Nitrogen to puff up the head and round out the body, the Dubliner is Irish Stout as it should be. Full flavour, no compromise. Possibly the ultimate session beer for those who like it dark…
Date First Tapped: 11 March 2016
Elementary Ale 1 is inspired by the love of Belgian inspired brews, hops and experimentation. Taking inspiration from Belgian Tripels such as Westmalle, Elementary Ale 1 twists this style base by hopping extensively with a range of New World and Old World hops. The noble Saaz hop from the Czech Republic and its new world hoppy ‘children’, the NZ grown, Saaz-derived, Motueka and Riwaka hop give a great New World hop character to the beer. Loads of hops late, a solid 55 IBU and a cracking dry finish all blending with the luscious Belgian Trappist Ale yeast character makes Elementary Ale 1 a complex, drinkable brew. Brewed in collaboration with Fortitude Brewing Co.

El Dorado India Pale Ale is the latest IPA release from FogHorn Brewhouse. Brewed in the US IPA style, El Dorado is a showcase for the US grown hop of the same name. El Dorado IPA is bitter but well balanced with layers of hop aroma and flavour from almost constant additions of El Dorado hops during the last half of the boil and in the whirlpool. IPA, but different!

An old favourite returns, the Liaison Saison is a beautiful modern craft interpretation of an old Belgian/Northern French beer style. Initial mouth filling malt dries out quickly to a dry refreshingly bitter finish. Amazingly drinkable for its higher ABV. Lightly spiced with fresh coriander and ginger, the Liaison Saison is a showcase for the peppery Belgian Farmhouse Ale yeast. Something a little different.
Date First Tapped: 29 October 2015
FogHorn Germania Lager is our take on the Oktoberfest/Marzen style popular in Bavaria at this time of year! Strong malt body and aroma from the finest of German malts, a clean lager fermentation profile from a long cool ferment and extended conditioning (or ‘lagering’) time and just enough hops to balance. In an ocean of aggressively hopped beers the Germania stands out by letting the toasty German malts shine. Guaranteed to keep you thigh slapping and polka-ing well into the night!
Date First Tapped: 24 September 2015
FogHorn’s first Farmhouse Ale is brewed in the Saison style of Northern France and Southern Belgium. Using a specially sourced limited release Belgian Farmhouse Ale yeast, this is a complex blend of aromas and flavours that are a link to a very different tradition of brewing. Brewed originally as ‘house’ beers to keep farm workers happy, Farmhouse Ales are noted for their earthy and almost pepper spicy yeast character and a cracking dry finish. Unusual at first but very moreish – the dry finish and citric tartness from the high wheat content makes it perfect for warmer weather. Unfiltered, hazy and rustic. Very refreshing while also very complex.
Date First Tapped: 27 August 2015
Craft Lager. Is this the final frontier for Craft Beer? Definitely not, but lagers are often the forgotten cousins of the Craft world and left to the industrial scale brewers. (re)New(able) World Lager takes a classic cold and slow lager fermentation profile using a Czech yeast and gives it a modern Craft shakeup. Big bold malts, firm bitterness and fruity tropical New World hop varieties. Our Pivo Pilsner pays homage to the Pilsner tradition – (re)New(able) World Lager forges its own path. Deceptively drinkable and perfect with the Route 66 Burger or The Capone Pizza.
Date First Tapped: 14 August 2015
Left Coast IPA is our latest US craft inspired IPA. Date First Tapped: 24 June 2015
Edmund Fitzgerald Imperial IPA is the biggest, hoppiest FogHorn beer yet. A biscuity German malt base is the setting for an explosion of hop character. Bitterness, flavour, aroma and that long lasting resinous mouthfeel only fresh whole cone hop flowers can provide. At 10.2% ABV it is strong, but the alcohol is smooth and well integrated for a beer of this size. Bigger isn’t always better but sometimes it just is… An indulgent beer to sip and savour across the winter months for all the hop lovers out there.
Date First Tapped: 05 June 2015
